Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organisation (WEWE) is a women-led legally registered, local not-for-profit, faith-based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was founded in 2004 by Josephine Ogazi and Joseph Egwuonwu. WEWE started out as a Community Based Organisation (CBO) with the aim of providing scholarships and economic empowerment to orphans and widows in Okigwe, Imo State and has since expanded its aims and objectives.

- Do you have a:
- A Second Class Upper (2.1), a first-class or Upper credit or distinction in Law degree?
- Are you currently working in a private law firm, or a private company as a lawyer?
- Are you an HR officer, corporate lawyer, or Legal officer that has received awards for the best staff while you were a student or during NYSC?
- Do you have an interest in transferring from working in the private sector to the NGO Sector, where you will gain experience working with United States Agency for International Development (USAID)/US Center for Disease Control-funded projects?
- WEWE has an ‘HR / Legal Office position’ where we offer job training for talented/award-winning lawyers with experience working as HR officers who have no experience working in the NGO and would like to gain experience working and learning about the NGO sector.
- Also, to understand practical applications of how to be a lawyer working in the area of HR/Legal services for international donor-funded projects: e.g., USAID, US CDC & EU.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- S/he will assist in providing in-house legal advisory services; compliance and risk mitigation, and support services through the assessment and development of an effective corporate/legal structure.
- S/he will assist to serve as a Liaison between WEWE Management and the WEWE Board of Trustees.
- S/he will assist to be responsible for all communications and correspondences between WEWE and the Board of Trustees as well as carry out such tasks as may be assigned by the WEWE Board of Trustees.
- S/he will assist to be accountable for taking day-to-day legal responsibilities and providing legal advice that includes all the aspects of the analysis, investigation, and drafting process.
- S/he will assist to be engaged in helping to analyze and collect evidence and schedule staff hearings.
- S/he will assist to conduct legal analysis and research on any legal matters of the organization.
- S/he will assist in performing cross-cutting functions of responding to queries on salaries, wages, leave requests, and other related activities.
- S/he will assist to maintain the organization and employees’ confidence by keeping human resources information confidential.
- S/he will assist to maintain human resources records by appropriately filing applications, CVs, and applicant logs in line with WEWE’s processes and procedures.
- S/he will assist to carry out shortlisting and sorting of applications.
- S/he will assist in the management of the Human Resources Portfolio.
- S/he will assist in orienting all hires by forwarding requirements and criteria to the Human Resource Team and providing information and directions.
- S/he will assist to verify candidates’ backgrounds by contacting references.
- S/he will assist to enroll new employees by issuing forms and verifying completion.
- S/he will assist employees by explaining benefit programs.
- S/he will assist to accomplish human resources and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
- S/he will assist in handling all pre-employment, employment, and post-employment relations needs of projects.
- S/he will assist in handling the arrangement of tests, interviews, and chats with prospective hires.
- And any other assigned responsibilities by the Supervisor
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (L.LB and B.L), HND, from a recognized higher institution.
- Must have a second-class upper or first-class or upper credit or distinction.
Required Experience:
- 1 – 2 years of working experience as a Human Resources/Legal person or any related role
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Technology suave i.e., the ability to use social media handles, the internet, and to send an email, etc.
- Very strong report-writing skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work long hours when needed.
- Strong analytical and research skills.
