Applications are now open for the UNU-WIDER Visiting Scholars Programme, designed to provide qualified researchers with the opportunity to explore critical topics in development and global economics.
Successful applicants will spend 2-3 months at the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER), engaging deeply with their chosen research areas while contributing to the institute’s broader initiatives.
This sabbatical allows scholars to produce research that may be selected for publication in the WIDER Working Paper Series, offering a significant platform to share their findings with the global academic community.

UNU-WIDER Visiting Scholars Programme 2024 | Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the UNU-WIDER Scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Applicants must have obtained a doctoral degree in economics or a development-related discipline.
- Must have a good publication record.
- Applicants must demonstrate excellent academic and research abilities.
- Applications from suitably qualified early-career, female, and developing country researchers are particularly encouraged.
