Stay-at-Home Word Processing Jobs

Stay-at-Home Word Processing Jobs allows you to work from home in pajamas.  Employers don’t have to provide space or equipment for someone to work at home, so the trend is becoming more and more popular.  However, many of the word processing jobs that are advertised online turn into telemarketing jobs or ad placement schemes that cannot fund home businesses.  There are many good jobs to stay at home, but it may take some time and effort to find the right one for you.

The skills and tools required for Stay-at-Home Word Processing Jobs

The individual who performs the data entry tasks must be fast and accurate typing because many companies only pay based on the correct number of keystrokes.  The basic skills required for data entry tasks include:

  • Computer Skills: As a data entry factor, you need basic computer skills: learn how to boot a computer, install and update software, keep your computer safe with antivirus and malware, etc.
  • Writing skills: You also need to be able to write quickly and efficiently while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.  Don’t forget to check back on your work.
  • Organizing: Data entry inherently revolves around law enforcement chaos – so hopefully, you’re good at these things on your own!  You should be good at organizing and always pay attention to details.
  • Good communication: Just like every job – especially at home, the ability to communicate clearly and effectively is important for entering data.
  • High Repetition Tolerance: You can imagine that data entry could get old – you do the same job over and over again with only slight differences, after all.  This means that data entry can become torture if you are not good at it.  You should also be good at sitting at your computer for long periods of time.
  • Programming skills: You must have extensive knowledge of commonly used programs, such as word processing programs and applications (Microsoft Word, Google Docs), spreadsheet programs and applications (Excel, spreadsheets), data logging programs, and more.

Equipment for Stay-at-Home Word Processing Jobs

  • Home computer with high speed internet.  Enough said.
  • Number pad.  You may enter a large number of numbers during data entry – the physical number pad is the savior, whether it is integrated with the keyboard or as a standalone peripheral.
  • Comfortable home office.  You will sit on your computer for long periods of time – your office chair should be comfortable and easy to work with in your office (preferably in a way that does not harm your position or your wrists).
  • Access to shared data processing software.  It is a good idea to have access to as many programs as possible, from the Microsoft Office suite to G Suite, so that you have the tools to suit any data entry function.
