Action Against Hunger is the world’s hunger specialist and leader in a global movement that aims to end life-threatening hunger for good within our lifetimes. For 40 years, the humanitarian and development organization has been on the front lines, treating and preventing hunger across nearly 50 countries. It served more than 21 million people in 2018 alone.
We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Title: Country Director – Nigeria
Location: Abuja
Duration: 24 months fixed term contract under French legislation
Your Job and Your Responsibilities
- As Country Director, you are responsible for providing the overall leadership and strategic guidance of the Country Office.
- Your main responsibilities are to lead the definition and the implementation of the country strategy of ACF in Nigeria and oversee the overall management of the country team in line with ACF values, quality standards and processes.
More Specifically:
- You ensure that systems and procedures are in place and being properly implemented, and that they ensure the proper management, well being and safety of ACF staff, and the proper use of ACF resources.
- You create a shared vision among all staff, promoting ACF Charter and ensuring an organizational culture where ACF core values are embedded, team work is encouraged and all staff feel valued.
- You are responsible for establishing and maintaining good working relationships with host government officials, donors and other partners.
- You are responsible for the safety, security and well being of your team.
- You ensure that programs reflect the country strategy and adhere to the ACF technical and transversal policies.
- You build on best practices previously developed by the country team.
Your Profile
- You hold a Master’s Degree in Development Studies or in Mmanagement.
- You show at least 8 years of relevant humanitarian experience or you have a bachelor with more than 15 years of relevant humanitarian experience.
- You also have a significant experience with external representation and promotion of programs with stakeholders and potential donors, and are able to generate goodwill towards the program with the intention of raising funds and the country grant portfolio.
- Fluent spoken and written English skills.
- You are experienced in complex emergencies in difficult security context.
- You show excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- You are known for your excellent negotiation skills, and political astuteness as well as your excellent adaptation and culturally sensitivity skills.
Your Conditions of Employment
- Monthly gross salary from 3,572.20 € to 4,128.70€ upon experience.
- Fixed term contract under French legislation: 24 months
- Reimbursement of the pension insurance for non-French citizens: 16% of the gross monthly salary
- Annual salary increase: 6% increase after and each 12 months of continuous contract.
- Monthly per diem and living allowance: 754€ net, field paid
- Monthly country allowance: 150€
- Cold allowance: Reimbursement for the purchase of winter equipment for a maximum of 380€ per person per year in severe cold contexts
- Child allowance: 1500€ per year per child present in the country of origin (maximum 6000€/year)
- Transportation and accommodation: coverage of transportation costs and guest house
- Medical coverage: ACF covers 100% of the social security, health insurance, and repatriation insurance agreement fees.
- Salary sustainment measures (sickness, paternity, maternity)
- Leaves and RnR: 25 days of paid leaves per year, 20 RnR per year and 215 € at each RnR period
