The full cost of a degree in Canada includes not only tuition fees but also accommodation and living expenses. It’s crucial to budget for these costs in advance and ensure you have sufficient savings or funding to support yourself throughout your studies. You should plan to have approximately USD $16,538-21,874 to cover both tuition fees and living expenses while studying. Student Grant for Full-time Studies
When you apply for a grant, you are automatically assessed for eligibility for loans and grants. To be eligible for the Canada Student Grant for Full-Time Students, you must:
* Apply for student loans, and have $1 of assessed federal financial need.
* You should also be pursuing full-time studies leading to an undergraduate degree, certificate, or diploma in a program that is more than one year in length at a designated school.
* Declare your family size. ( if applicable).
Grants Available for International Students
University of Canada West entrance awards, scholarships, and grants are available to new students applying to a UCW undergraduate or graduate program.
You can receive only ONE award, scholarship or grant, and one continuing student award if eligible. Review the conditions of each option carefully and supply ALL of the required supporting documentation for the grants for which you wish to be considered. A limited number of grant will be available each term.
Awards will be applied to your tuition, at UCW on a prorated basis throughout the duration of the award. In other words, the award will be credited to your tuition each term based on the number of courses in which you register OR as indicated in the specific requirements and conditions of the award.

The value of a grant will not be more than the value of your tuition. The maximum awarded value for transfer students will be prorated based on the number of credits required to complete your degree.

Application Requirements for a Student Grants
You could be eligible for a student grant in Canada if your application satisfies these requirements:
- Have a financial need.
- Are a full-time student in a qualified program at a designated school.
- Your total family income is less than the income threshold.
- Be a permanent resident of a province or territory in which the Canada Student Loans system is offered.
- Be studying on a full-time or part-time basis at a recognized university.
- Demonstrate financial need. Amounts for Canada Student Loans are calculated using need-based criteria. The amount you can borrow will take into account your economic circumstances and background.
- Pass a credit check if you are over 22 and have not previously taken out a Canada Student Loan.
Payment of loan installments in successive years of your program may also depend on your making satisfactory academic progress.
