Call For Applications: Innovation Journey (IJ) Program 2024 for AgTech Startups & Companies (up to $25,000)

The Innovation Journey (IJ) program presents a unique opportunity for pioneering Israeli ag-tech companies and stakeholders in the Ethiopian agriculture ecosystem to collaborate and explore partnerships for piloting innovative technologies. The ultimate aim is to deliver value to Ethiopia’s agriculture market and its small/medium-scale farmers.

Initiated by JDC’s TOV (Tikkun Olam Ventures) agricultural development program, IJ harnesses Israeli technology and expertise to positively impact the lives of small-scale farmers in Ethiopia. IJ will complement the TOV program’s expansion in Ethiopia by working with additional partners, across more regions, and reaching a larger number of farmers.

  • Achieve goals by integrating new technologies into operations.
  • Collaborate with Israeli innovative tech companies.
  • Engage in discussions with relevant partners interested in collaboration.

*Two grants will be awarded through a competitive and transparent selection process.

Eligibility

For Ethiopian Stakeholders:

  • Existing activity in Ethiopia involving small/medium scale farmers.
  • Relevance to one of the selected Focus Topics (crop protection, post-harvest, market linkages).
  • Interest in technological dialogue.
  • Capability to conduct a pilot or collaborate if a match is found.
  • Availability to participate in the program’s matchmaking process (4-6 hours over 3-4 months) and appoint a point of contact with relevant expertise to manage communication during the program.

For Israeli Companies:

  • Registered company in Israel.
  • Product/technology-based solution.
  • Proof of concept and existing sales in at least one market.
  • Interest in adapting products to meet the needs of small and medium-scale farmers in Ethiopia.
  • Availability to undergo capacity building (approximately 25 hours over 2 weeks) and matchmaking (8-12 hours over 3-4 months) stages of the program.
