Call For Applications: African Union Public Health Scholarship Program ( Fully Funded)
The African Union Centre for Disease Control is inviting applications for an 18-month master’s degree program at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Public Health, South Africa.
The African Union Public Health Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity for all selected candidates covering the costs of tuition, accommodation, and living stipends while studying in South Africa.
Africa CDC instituted an annual scholarship program that awards scholarships to 10 young African scholars for an 18-month master’s degree study in epidemiology at the University of the Witwatersrand School of Public Health, South Africa.
Preference is given to candidates currently working with the NPHI in their respective countries and the purpose is to strengthen public health workforce capacity of African Union Member States.
Interested candidates can apply for any of the following courses: epidemiology and biostatistics, field epidemiology, infectious diseases epidemiology, public health informatics, biostatistics, and implementation science.
Requirements
To be considered for the African Public Health Scholars Programme, you must:
- have a disciplinary background in any of medical, microbiology, dentistry, statistics, computer science, veterinary science, demography, Nutrition, and Psychology.
- have a four-year honours degree, an MBBCh or other health-related degree.
- Relevant work experience will be an advantage.
- English competency certificate OR evidence of prior undergraduate training in English. (For countries whose medium of instruction is not English)
- Certified copies of South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) certificates OR proof of application to SAQA. To apply for SAQA, visit: http://www.saqa.org.za/index.php.

- Written motivation by the applicant detailing the motivation for applying for the course and how the program fits with their overall career goals.
- Comprehensive curriculum vitae including a description of relevant research and work experience
- Two referee reports.
- Certified copies of academic transcripts and certificates.
