Accelerate Africa is not your typical one-size-fits-all accelerator program; it’s an exceptional opportunity tailored to meet the unique needs of African founders. Here’s why it stands out:

  1. Top Operator VCs Support:
    • Only 10 founders will be accepted into the program.
    • Support from two leading operator VCs in Africa: Iyinoluwa Aboyeji and Mia von Koschitzky-Kimani, known for building, advising, investing in, and exiting multiple successful businesses in Africa.
  2. Customized Program:
    • Tailored workshops covering five core areas.
    • Coaching sessions with top advisors.
    • Tech, legal, and finance clinic support through clinics and office hours.
    • Weekly Lagos/Nairobi meetups to build a community with other founders.
    • The last two weeks of the program will involve intensive preparation for the demo day in May 2024.
  3. No Equity or Funding Requirement:
    • Unlike most accelerators, Accelerate Africa does not require equity upon admittance.
    • Funding opportunity: Future Africa may invest alongside other investors to provide a pre-seed or seed-stage check of $250,000 – $500,000 after the program, subject to due diligence and an investment committee vote.
  4. Diverse and Inclusive Approach:
    • Recognizes that founders with the potential to turn Africa’s challenges into global businesses come from diverse backgrounds.
    • Over 40% of founders previously supported by Accelerate Africa are women, spanning ages from their 20s to their 60s, and representing over 10 African countries.

Founder Criteria:

  • Passionate about solving a real problem with a proven track record or traction.
  • Deep understanding of customers and a commitment to serving them.
  • Lived experience of the problem, driving them to build a business that may seem impossible until it’s achieved.

If you embody these qualities or know a founder who does, apply now or nominate a startup.

Deadline: February 16, 2024
