Job Description
- Launched in 2016, the four-year USAID Global Health Supply Chain – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) ensures uninterrupted supply of health commodities to prevent suffering, save lives, and create a brighter future for families.
- In Nigeria, GHSC-PSM procures commodities and technically assists improve HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health, and family planning supply chains.
- The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), USAID’s family planning and reproductive health program, and USAID’s program for Ending Preventable Child and Maternal Deaths.
- Besides GHSC-PSM, the Nigeria implementing team also supports an agreement with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to bolster public health supply chains by providing warehousing and distribution services for HIV and malaria commodities.
- The project has a full-time Learning & Visualization Specialist; however, at times the demand for project visualization services (graphic design and video) is greater than what one person can manage.
- As such, we seek an individual who can back-stop for a range of visualization services and can be available on relatively short notice.
- The position requires an individual who is highly organized, personable, and a strong communicator. This person should be well-suited to a variety of information design tasks across multiple clients and deadlines.
- The right candidate will be a team player who takes initiative and has strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines, and who brings a fresh perspective to improve team performance, foster innovation, and ensure final product quality. Working with a highly creative team, the Visualization Consultant will report to the LKM&SC Regional Officer and work closely with the Learning and Visualization Specialist, and other project teams and staff (depending on the assignment).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop publications, infographics, charts, maps, and other visual content for a range of uses, including publications, presentations, web and social media.
- Determine the best way to present data, tell stories, and convey messages to different audiences using qualitative and quantitative insights.
- Design and build publication-ready data visualizations using unstructured and structured data.
- Build infographic to simplify and make complex information, knowledge, easy to understand and visually compelling
- Use data visualization strategies, techniques, and tools to communicate complex ideas, turning complex information into artwork to intrigue the target audience
- Support the development of concepts, graphics, and illustrations for project documentaries
- Review and design GHSC-PSM’s project-wide templates in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including report templates, letterheads, one-pager templates, story templates, using appropriate program logos.
- Format documents using the program style guide, update tables of contents, and correctly apply styles.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Computer and Information Sciences, or graphic design
- Visualization, Media arts and Sciences, or equivalent with 3-6 years of experience
- Knowledge of graphics and visualization tools such as Adobe CS 5 Suite including Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Flash, Tableau.
- Demonstrated ability to take complex information and/or large data sets and translate them for graphic or interactive visualizations for the web and/or other media
- Experience in developing different types of visualization products
- Ability to collaborate with multiple diverse groups across teams
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills – strong oral, written communication, and presentations skills as evidenced by publications or cover letter
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with USAID branding requirements
