We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: GBV Women Center Supervisor

Location: Maiduguri, Borno 60% field visit

Job Summary

  • The key responsibility of the GBV Women Center Supervisor is to ensure a safe, relevant, inclusive and appealing delivery of activities and services. She works as the focal point for Women Friendly Space (WFS) and plays a representative, supervisory and coordinating role.
  • She/he is responsible for ensuring that the work of the WFS is accountable towards the affected population and that the WFS team works in line with WFS principles and objectives.
  • She/he will assist with the recruitment, supervision and training of WFS staff, application of safety measures for staff and members as well as manages the report and data of the WFS.
  • She/he will collaborate with the GBV Prevention Officer and Case Work Supervisor to ensure a holistic prevention and response for GBV.

Technical Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the GBV Manager to understand program goals and to meet expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Case Work Supervisor in the development of curricula, tools and other resources for activities hosted in the WFS.
  • (Based on assessment’s findings and security recommendations) develop program strategies to ensure that activities represent and include different population groups (ethnicities, religions, vulnerabilities, age, etc.).
  • Set up and ensure the correct functioning of feedback and consultation mechanisms.
  • Support in designing program concept notes and proposals for WFS.
  • Identify and put measures in place to promote women and girls’ ownership in collaboration with staff and members.
  • Keep the WFS, its activities and material relevant and, as much as possible, innovative.
  • Analyze trends of GBV and develop/adjust program strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure availability and proper functioning of safe and reliable complaint mechanisms for safeguarding, sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA), and program-related complaints.
  • Work with the Women Center Facilitator to identify strategies to promote solidarity and inclusion among WFS members.
  • Work with the outreach/prevention team to get information on trends, community dynamics, community acceptance to modify program accordingly.
  • Contribute to the development and adaptation of IEC material.
  • Participate in women’s forum meeting and ensure to discuss action points with WFS staff to inform activities.
  • Identify interaction points and linkages for the GBV response (prevention and outreach programming).
  • Work as an advocate for women and girls’ rights and needs in humanitarian forums and other relevant platforms.
  • Collaborate with humanitarian coordination mechanisms to identify and ensure the well functioning of community feedback mechanisms.

HR Management & Administration:

  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly timesheets, probations reviews and bi-annual performance reviews.
  • Provide regular performance feedback to staff and where necessary work with Human Resources to document staff performance issues and address these in accordance with the National Staff Employment Policies
  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
  • Support the orientation, on-going development/training and build the capacity of WFS staff as required
  • Coordinate and oversee vacation schedules for all staff ensuring that leave schedules do not overlap.
  • Actively promote Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) standards within International Medical Corps and among beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.

Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Build capacity of staff in using M&E systems and tools (WFS attendance tracker, etc.)
  • Ensure timely submission of weekly and monthly program work plans and reports.
  • Support the collection, analysis and dissemination of project data and information for program review and information sharing.
  • Contribute to donor reports as per set schedules (monthly, quarterly and annually) on activities, indicators and achievements.

Finance & Procurement / Logistics:

  • In collaboration with GBV Manager, ensure purchase requests are filled in correctly and in a timely manner and that receipts are provided and well documented.
  • Follow-up on logistics/procurement to ensure timely procurement of WFS supplies.
  • Adhere to IMC and donor requirements and identify any funding challenges

General:

  • Refrain from making false promises and commitments to the beneficiaries and work in the best interest of IMC’s mission, vision and GBV Program.
  • Foster a team spirit among GBV staff that is conducive to all staff improving their skills and knowledge base.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to enable and develop the IMC GBV program

Qualification and Experience

  • Interest in building staff capacity via trainings, coaching, mentoring, etc.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work during non-traditional working hours when needed
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Microsoft, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken), Hausa, and/or Kanuri.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse staff, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders
  • University degree in Social Science, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, etc.
  • Commitment and sensitivity to gender equity, gender rights, and the mitigation of GBV.
  • Strong background in human rights and familiarity with practical challenges faced by displaced and other vulnerable persons.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for clients at all times.
  • Experience in developing tools and conducting assessments.

  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time by supervisors
