Call For Applications: US Embassy Education Grant Opportunity 2025 ($175,000 fund For Nigerian Undergraduate/Graduates)
The Public Diplomacy Section at the United States Embassy in Abuja, Nigeria, is announcing an open competition for organizations to apply for a project aimed at promoting U.S. higher education opportunities for high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
The focus of the US Embassy Higher Education Grant Opportunity is on standard advising centers and supporting students through financial assistance for the application process.
The implementing partner will work closely with the Education Specialists of the Public Diplomacy Section in Abuja and Lagos to support the 2025-26 Education Advising Program in Nigeria, including the Education USA Opportunity Funds Program. The partner will also assist Standard Advising Centers in Calabar, Jos, Ibadan, and Kano.
Eligibility
To be considered for the US Embassy Higher Education Grant Opportunity, eligible organizations must:
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
- Public and private educational institutions.
- Public international organizations and governmental institutions.
Other Eligibility Requirements
- All organizations must have a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) issued via SAM.gov as well as a
valid registration in SAM.gov. - Applicants are only allowed to submit one proposal per organization. If more than one proposal is submitted from an organization, all proposals from that institution will be considered ineligible for funding.

Benefits
The US Embassy Education Grant aims to assist 40 high-achieving, low-income Nigerian students who are likely to receive full financial aid from U.S. colleges and universities but lack the resources to cover necessary costs.
Costs covered include;
- standardized test fees,
- application fees,
- airfare,
- visa fees,
- SEVIS fees, and
- settling-in expenses.
The implementing partner will collaborate with the Education USA network in Abuja and Lagos to achieve these goals as directed by the Country Education Specialist during the performance period.
