The Goethe-Institut Nigeria is dedicated to supporting Nigerian solo artists, collectives, and cultural experts in the realization of their projects, fostering creativity and providing a platform for emerging talents in the cultural landscape of Nigeria.

Over the years, the Goethe-Institut Nigeria has been a proud supporter of diverse projects spanning various art forms such as music, contemporary dance, photography, documentary films, theatre, visual arts, literature, and more. The institute also extends its support to artists and cultural experts invited to festivals or cultural projects in Germany or on the African continent, who require financial assistance.

This support is a crucial opportunity for young and upcoming artists in Nigeria to showcase their work, be heard, and gain visibility in the cultural sphere.

Funding Opportunities:

  1. Art and Culture Projects: Up to 5,000 EUR each
  2. Art and Culture Festivals: Up to 5,000 EUR each
  3. Art and Culture Travel Grant: Up to 2,500 EUR each

Eligibility Criteria:

Art and Culture Projects:

  • Solo artists or collectives with at least 3 years of professional experience planning an arts or cultural project in Nigeria.
  • The project idea must be developed and in an advanced stage of preparation.
  • The project must be implemented in 2024 and completed by December 10, 2024.

Art and Culture Festivals:

  • Open to art and culture festivals in Nigeria.
  • The festival must be at least in its third year.
  • The festival must take place in 2024 and be completed by December 10, 2024.

Art and Culture Travel Grant:

  • Open to individuals with an official invitation to a cultural festival/event/project in Germany or any African country.
  • The host organization is responsible for accommodation and other living expenses during the event.
  • Travel must take place in 2024 and be completed by December 10, 2024.

Application Process:

Application documents include:

  • Application Form with a budget plan
  • CV of the project leader/visiting artist
  • Additional references and material
  • Copy of passport photograph
