The U.S. Mission to Nigeria comprises of the Embassy in Abuja, FCT, and the Consulate General in Lagos. U.S. Consulate General Lagos is the Mission’s representative to the Nigerian people in the southern region.

Summary

Duties

  • The incumbent reports directly to the Senior Computer Mgt. Specialist and indirectly to the ISO.
  • Incumbent is specialized in applications support and is also tasked to administer all applications and LAN Core Server Systems.
  • The incumbent provides direction and guidance to 4 ISC staff on general customer service operations and acts as team lead on assigned projects.
  • Incumbent Performs systems Analysis for ISC, acts as a trainer, Application systems specialist, analyst, and systems administrator for OpenNet core servers, DIN Network and Database.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the fields of Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Information Systems, or Information Systems Management is required.

Experience:

  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience, primarily of a technical nature, at least one of which should have been as an analyst, database designer/manager, and/or programmer on complex computer systems is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft IT industry standards and IT business practices is required. Technical knowledge of Advanced IT procedures in Medium to large-sized LAN operations is required.

  • Incumbent is required to have thorough good working knowledge of the local Internet service providers (ISP) for fiber, Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and vendors processes.
  • Works with local contractor Internet Service Provider, in the network administration / troubleshooting of the VPN or DIN network, to ensure the Mission is receiving quality internet bandwidth.

Skills and Abilties

  • Must posses strong ability to analyze IT problems, design, and troubleshoot all systems, including the complex LAN software and hardware systems is required.
  • Typing/Keyboarding skills is required.

  • Excellent manual skills is required for repair of IT equipment.
  • Complex numerical skills are required for the analysis of computer systems operations.
  • Must be able to perform some heavy lifting of UPS units, computers, servers, printers, and peripheral equipment (up to 100 lbs.).

Agency Benefits:

  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Abuja, Nigeria may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
